Another Pandemic Winter

If last winter is any indication, the cold will bring with it a rise in coronavirus cases. As we enter another pandemic winter, here are some things to consider as you plan the months ahead, ways to take care of your physical and mental health.

Get vaccinated.

Vaccination is our way forward. All Americans over the age of 5 are now eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Because the efficacy of the vaccines wanes over time, it is important to get your booster if it has been more than six months since you received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

Vaccinations are an act of deep caring and are the best gifts we can give each other this holiday season. (And don’t forget your flu shot!)

Consider stocking up on rapid tests.

As we gather with family and friends to celebrate the holidays, in addition to having all eligible folks vaccinated, rapid tests before Christmas dinner can offer added peace of mind and help protect both vulnerable family members and the community at large.

We can celebrate and reduce risk.

Protect your mental health. Have a plan. If the blues begin to creep in or you’re feeling lonely or cooped up, have a list handy. Make a list of things you can do and people you can see when you need some extra connection.

Reach out for support if you need it. Winter can be a difficult season for some people. You’re not alone. Don’t be afraid to reach out and to family and friends for the support you need.
