Rediscovering Our Social Lives

As Americans receive the COVID-19 vaccination in record numbers, many of us are looking forward to returning to in-person socialization. People are beginning to venture outside of the “pods” they’d created for themselves in the past year, planning dinner parties, coffee dates, and trips to the park. As you begin to make these sorts of plans, now is an excellent time to take stock of which relationships you want to nurture.

There is a lot of talk in the leadership and business world about building your own personal board of directors to assist you in career growth, people you can turn to for advice and assistance on finding your path and purpose.

What if we took that same care to gather people whose presence nurtures our soul?

When gathering a personal board of directors for their careers, people often seek out mentors in their field, someone whose work they admire, someone who would happily connect them to people whose visions align with theirs.

Do that same sort of team-building for your personal life as you figure out the ins and outs of your post-pandemic social world. Who grounds you? Who challenges you and pushes you to grow? Who brings you joy? After a challenging year, we will rebuild our connections. Remember which relationships are most meaningful to you, and invest in them.
